There is nothing like it, getting up to present and not knowing what anyone is going to do, wondering if they are walking out of the classroom because it is their behavior or if they really needed to leave, thinking is a friend playing a joke or being mean or are they just following directions. there is nothing like it. I can be strict I have kids who hate when I came a babysit because I make them do their homework, before we do anything else. I have younger cousins who resent me at times because I want to know what they are doing in school. I feel as though I was taking advantage of. It is as simple as that, and although there were a select few that I am very grateful towards. It is like when you get up there everything that you have planned out everything that you have slaved over goes out the window. I really do not know what to say, I know that there are things that I did not get to that I should have gotten to, but that happens. Anyway I found a New quote that I like "Those who can do. Those who can do more teach."

I enjoyed your lesson anni =)
it would have been more fun if i didn't have to be so mean (which i felt really terrible about) BUT IT WAS MY CARD ha.

and i agree that it is hard because I didn't know what anyone was going to do next and its just nerve wrecking. AHH!

Don't get upset, Anni. Getting up in front of our class is a challenge. Everyone has to do those behaviors and sometimes we do get a little out of control. I guess we just all have to take it in strides and realize that it's going to benefit us in the end. The good thing is, you never lost your cool. You stayed calm, regardless of how angry you were. It was a good lesson and will be great with a real class with minor adjustments. :]

I loved your lesson. Yes our classmates went crazy but your lesson was fun. It kept us occupied and it would keep children occupied as well. All you have to do is set your rules and tell them that there will be consequences if they don't follow these rules and work from there. But yeah good job!=D

Iam really sorry if you felt i give you a hard time.. I was just following direction. the truth is if you decide to teach in an urban area you will get students as worst as we were acting, trust me I am talking from experience, but you can't take to the heart. Even when you become a successful teacher( which I know you will be) things happen that should never change the reason you want to teach. Even thought, it was not the best teaching environment at least will be able to handle anything that comes, just like you will be able to Anni. Don't take personal because its not... if you want to be really bad on my turn ill be fine... as a sub in abbott district, I've been through it all, it just made want to be a better teacher for the all students. I am sorry... if i made you upset.. sandy~!

Hey Anni even thougt I didn't missbehave during your lesson(my card said "no problems")after reding your post I had to comment.
I just wanted to say that I don't know if you remember but the class was as bad as the could be during my lesson too and worst I didnt even get to finish my actitity. I think all of us felt kind of frustrated at times but you shouln't let that get to you because all everybody was doing was only pretending. I'm sure no one wanted to make you feel the way you felt. In the other hand this are things you will see during your teaching and should be prapare to handle this kinds of situations without taking it personally. Remember children are children and sometimes they are capable of doing worst things.

Anni,

It looks like your "problem" class wasn't really a problem after all. :)

In the "real world", this may happen as well. A badly misbehaved class may feel regret afterwards. So remember that when students are misbehaving, it is probably not personal.

Thanks for posting!

Just wanted to say that you're lesson idea was great and you handled the situation very well, considering how chaotic it was! lol I feel the worst case scenario is always the best because it prepares you for real life teaching experiences and makes it THAT much better when you have good students :)

I wasn't there for your lesson but sometimes classes will become rowdy and your lesson may not go as planned but you have to stay calm and composed and adapt to the situation.

Btw... love the quote ;)

Although I am not in your class I can say I have been there. I had Dr. Luongo last spring and we had to teach the lessons and use the cards. In some ways it was a lot of fun when you are on the student end but when teaching it can be very nerve racking. It is tough getting up in front of a class knowing that they are going to act up but still not truly know what to expect. Keep your head up, despite the way you feel I am sure the hard work that you put into the lesson was not wasted.
